A cozy breakfast room on a budget

Everyday objects repurposed, Furniture and decor I've purchased, Handmade decor for my mini house

Today’s room box has lots of inexpensive touches.

The dresser, cabinet, and small table (night stand) were all Dollar Store purchases or from the dollar (or so) aisle of one of my local craft stores. All were originally unpainted. The dresser and night stand have non-functioning drawers, unfortunately.

I wove the chunky rugs on a potholder loom. The flat, tan one is just a scrap of burlap.

This little plant goes here!

The diamond shaped wall hanging is a scrap of burlap I wove some yarn into.

The oversized wooden pot on top of the cabinet was featured here. It’s a napkin ring.

Gearing up for game night!

Furniture and decor I've purchased

Along with a simple white set of canisters and the world’s cutest arrangement of cheeses, I’ve got a new mid-century kitchen table and chairs in my original Flip This (Mini) House! Take a look!

With some help from a blow dryer, I was able to loosen up the glue holding the carpet and divider wall in place. Here’s a look at my progress:

Inspired by some more clearance jewelry finds, I made this cute pink tasseled wall hanging for a comfy room box living room!

This yarn, above, looks a little too thick for this project, so I’ll try it with some finer-weight pink thread instead.

Carefully remove the tassels… (Watch out for flying bits of metal!)

A bit of a kabob skewer works great for this project!

Done!

The decorating never ends

Flipping my mini house

Just like with a real house, decorating the Flip This (Mini) House project never ends. The living room, which I just highlighted earlier today, has gotten a make-under. The bubble chair has been swapped with the Eames lounge chair and ottoman from the house’s upstairs office. The fluffy white rug has been swapped out with a carpet from the house’s storage drawer. Ahhh! That’s better!

A new mini house to flip?

A new house flipping project

I got together with my friend Janet a few days ago. You may remember her as the friend who found my original mini house at a flea market, back in the summer of 2014. It was just $35! She and her husband then brought it to me and the blog Flip This (Mini) House was born.

Well… She’s at it again. Here’s her latest find. This one I got for the low price of free. It’s in pretty bad shape, but, like my original project, I see a great deal of potential in it. I’m not really sure that I’m ready for another mini house flipping project just yet, but maybe when the snow begins to fall outside I’ll change my mind.

The light above the door is made from a tiny bottle of Curve cologne, two candlestick wax catchers, a small brass ring, and a chain. The planters are West Elm measuring cups. The mid century doorknob and backplate are made from a button and star I cut from aluminum foil. The welcome mat is cut from a place mat.
